Dungeon Etiquette And Community Accountability
A shared space depends on mutual respect
Understanding the subject
Dungeon etiquette covers conduct around scenes, equipment, shared areas, staff, and other attendees. Rules differ by venue, so orientation and posted policies matter more than assumptions based on past experience.
Negotiation and preparation
Ask before touching people or equipment, respect reserved rooms and time limits, avoid interrupting active scenes except for safety, and follow rules on phones and photography. Staff directions and consent policies apply regardless of reputation or experience.
During and after participation
Know how to contact a Dungeon Monitor, report an incident, and seek assistance without confronting someone alone. A useful reporting process distinguishes immediate safety needs from later review and does not promise outcomes it cannot guarantee.
Risks and misconceptions
A certification, title, or years of experience is not proof of good character. Communities are safer when concerns can be raised and assessed fairly.
